Russell leads with attention. A lifetime of reading people closely means he often senses what a person, or a whole room, is really feeling before it is said, even on a screen, and he knows in the moment when to press gently and when to wait. He prepares exhaustively, then sets all of it aside to be fully present in the room. He is not running a process and he is not there to prove anything, he is simply, completely, in service of the person in front of him. It is why someone can sit down with him, often a stranger, and within an hour say something they have never been able to say to anyone, and begin to see themselves clearly again.
